Group Virtual Exhibition Accompanying the International Scientific Students’ Conference “Forum of Ideas 2025”
To Feel the Past and the Present
The artworks of the students of the Textile and Fashion Design, Design, Fashion Design, Object Art, Object Conservation and Restoration, and Photography study programmes of the Istambul Aydin University and the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution are exhibited in the virtual exhibition “To Feel the Past and the Present” accompanying the International Scientific Students’ Conference “Forum of Ideas 2025”. The participants, more than twenty students this year, are exhibiting graphic design artworks, fashion design artworks, glass art objects, small woodworks, and photographs in the virtual exhibition. The variety of genres, techniques and styles of the artworks presented by the students highlights the courage of the young artists to experiment in the search for forms of expression. Authenticity is important to them, both in selecting ideas or motives for their artworks and searching for the most unique and precise form of visual art that fulfils their ideas. The past becomes a tool for young artists to create in the present in the process of this exciting quest.
Students seek to discover, through their acquired skills in classical painting, marquetry technique, bookbinding, sewing, glass material handling techniques, and photography, the possibilities of creating new forms to preserve traditions, which is the basis on which student artworks reflecting today’s themes are created. Three themes emerge in the students’ artworks: craftsmanship, the reuse of things, and reflections on individual past experiences. The wide range of themes confirms the young artists’ diversity, and desire to find their authentic path.
The students set themselves the goal of not only continuing traditions but also finding new forms for them to emerge in the present in their artworks. The fusion of the past and the present determines the durability of the artwork, as it is not influenced by short-term trends or flashy glimpses that disappear in the general flow of visual information.
Each young artist expresses his/her uniqueness by visualising his/her idea, choosing a form of expression, telling his/her own story, and seeking to establish a dialogue with the viewer. We encourage you to look at the artwork, notice the details, discover what resonates, and engage in a conversation that needs no words.
