CHROMATIC STROKE

Exhibition of Watercolour works Accompanying the International Scientific Students’ Conference “Forum of Ideas 2025” by the Students of the Object Conservation and Restoration Study Programme of Academy of Arts of the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution

CHROMATIC STROKE

The exhibition of watercolour works by students of the Object Conservation and Restoration study programme features ten still lifes depicting fruit and household objects. Each work reveals a subtle mastery of the watercolour casting technique, allowing the expressiveness of everyday objects to be explored and captured. A watercolour technique that combines free brushstrokes, colour gradients and precise highlights of the details and textures of objects, emphasising their uniqueness. The watercolour shaping technique gives life and movement to the works. At the same time, the interplay of colours allows for subtle effects of light and shadow that are very difficult to achieve with other painting techniques.

The works of the exhibition depict objects that often go unnoticed yet have profound meaning. Students analysed how the watercolour technique can convey not only the physical qualities of objects but also reveal their subtle changes over time while creating these works.

The exhibition “Chromatic Undertone” invites viewers to explore how ordinary but important objects can become motifs for artworks. The young artists highlight and interpret the essential qualities of everyday objects and their changes, giving them a new context in their works.
