THE EXHIBITION OF STUDENTS OF THE IMAGE DESIGN STUDY PROGRAMME
CRUELLA. A NEW BEGINNING
Films are not just about telling a story. It is the characters that draw the viewer into the narrative conveyed through cinematic imagery. Every character is an integral part of the story in a film, but the main character evokes the most emotion and attention.
Students of the Image Design study programme of the Academy of Arts of the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution focused on fashion designer Cruella DeVil, the protagonist of the adventurous “101 Dalmatians” prequel film “Cruella”, created by Disney, in the exhibition “Cruella. A New Beginning”.
By researching and analysing Cruella DeVil, students created new images reflecting the designer’s exciting and intriguing life story. Brave experimentations searching for alternative solutions for the images of the character began in the studies of study subject “Image Composition 1” under the guidance of the coordinator of the Image Design study programme, lecturer Violeta Dobrovolskienė, and continued in the practice subject “Fundamentals of Image Composition and Photography” under the guidance of lecturers Rasa Povilaitiene and Jurgita Buožiene.
Students captured these images in photo shoots with models, where they artistically added variations of Cruella DeVil’s image in portraits, figure shots and accessory photos.
